- Marcus (The Betrayed, Saints) — Young runaway homeless boy who beds down inside Jackson Square’s hedges; Burke’s “pet kid.” (The Disturbed gives his age as eight; The Betrayed does not specify an age — original “seven-year-old” was fabricated.)

(No proper name “Shopper” appears in the manuscript.)
- Theresa Collins (The Betrayed, Fanny) — Director of the Gravier Street shelter; LSU hospitality grad who tips Rev about Fanny’s discarded belongings.

Mythos / Concepts / Rituals
- Crab spider mimicry / Aphantochilus (The Betrayed, Chartres) — Burke’s pet allegory: the ant-mimic crab spider in her formicarium that lives among its prey unseen, mirroring her own predation.
- Glamour / illusion (The Betrayed, Lair) — Ghoul ability to mold human perception into seeing them as beautiful; the disguise affects perception of the creature but not of its environment, so it can be defeated by indirect tells (e.g., the over-sized true shadow). Mirrors are speculated as another counter.
- Homo anthropophagi (ghoul) (The Betrayed, The Revelation) — Once-human predators turned through perversion and ritual; gain skills and longevity by consuming victims, identifiable by their over-sized true shadow.
- Key of Solomon protective glyph (The Betrayed, The Plan) — Diagram from The Key of Solomon Father Kelly draws over the doorways of his and Rev’s offices to keep ghouls out. (The amulet pendants instead bear the Nyarlathotep glyph and rely on Kelly’s incantation, not the Solomon ward.)
- Long pig (The Betrayed, Charnel) — Burke’s “Arapawa pork” served at her dinner; revealed by the police pantry photos to be human meat.
- Nyarlathotep glyph (asymmetric pentagram) (The Betrayed, Jerome) — Crooked five-pointed star painted in faint gray spray paint near each abduction site as Burke’s calling card.
- Anti-ghoul pendant / amulet (The Betrayed, The Plan / The Pact) — Cheap silver pendant bearing the Nyarlathotep glyph, sourced by Rae from a Bourbon Street voodoo shop and ritually charged by Father Kelly as a ward against Burke. (No proper name like “Pendant of the Hidden Eye” appears in the manuscript.)
- Saint Christina the Astonishing’s resurrection (The Betrayed, Burke Foundation) — Patron saint’s miracle, depicted on the church ceiling fresco.
- Shadow tell (The Betrayed, The Revelation) — A ghoul’s true form is given away by a shadow too large for its glamoured body; Rev first notices Burke’s outsized shadow in Saint Christina’s garden.
